Slow Down the Ageing Process
As we age, the volume naturally found in the face starts to deplete. As a result, the face starts to downturn and shadows and lines form. Dermal fillers are volumising substances injected into the different layers of the face to plump up and contour the overlying skin. Not only is the volume of the face restored or enhanced, dermal fillers can also improve skin elasticity and hydration.
How long will the treatment take?
All of the fillers that we offer are injectable gels and are able to be performed as a ‘lunch time procedure’. The majority of our fillers will rarely require much down time and all are comfortably performed in the clinic. Depending on the procedure, a local or topical anaesthetic may be used.
What are dermal fillers made of?
There are many different fillers on the market which are classed as either absorbable or non-absorbable based on the body’s ability or inability to break down the gel. At Miricos Aesthetics Clinic, we offer a range of products that differ in cost, longevity and mode of action.
Are there any reasons why I can’t have dermal fillers?
As with most cosmetic procedures, women who are currently pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive are not suitable candidates. People with a known sensitivity to the active ingredients in the desired filler are not suitable, nor are people with certain autoimmune conditions. Your past and present medical history, as well as your past cosmetic history, will be assessed by your injector to determine your suitability.
Temporary Absorbable Fillers
The most commonly used dermal fillers are made of a protein that is a naturally occurring in your skin and body. It has exceptional water-binding properties, meaning that essentially the filler acts like a sponge, drawing in water molecules and plumping up the skin. As the ageing process occurs, the volume found naturally in the face starts to deplete, so these fillers are used to replace this and to improve skin hydration and quality. Dermal fillers are not derived from animals and are synthetically produced. Due to their low immunogenic properties, no allergy testing is required. This effective anti-ageing treatment can be injected to most places of the face including lips, cheeks, tear troughs, frown lines, nasolabial folds (smile lines) and oral commissures (down turning of the mouth). We have a range of different brands from which your practitioner can help you choose.
Longer Lasting Absorbable Fillers
Our longer lasting absorbable filler is a biocompatible, biodegradable injection that stimulates the production of new collagen. Some dermatologists have called this product a ‘facelift in a bottle’ or ‘liquid facelift’ due to its ability to gradually pick up the sagging skin of the face in the main structural areas of volume depletion. Volume is seen for the first 2 to 3 days, but is then absorbed into the tissue. The real results become visible after 6 weeks with the production of new collagen and only continue to get better with time. This creates a natural, gradual option for rejuvenation. It is particularly effective for the cheeks, jawline and temples. A series of treatments is required which can provide results anywhere from 18 months to 3 years. We also have dermal fillers available for instant, long-term volume. It is best to speak to your practitioner about these options.
